Actress Nia Long Shares Her Secret Behind the Makeup

This week our #wcw goes to the gorgeous actress Nia Long. An ode to the woman who looks the same today as she did back when we loved her in Boyz N the Hood. Yup, we took it back. So what’s Nia’s secret to keeping her skin looking fresh and youthful behind the makeup and offscreen? Here’s a hint: it’s all about the skin care.

Actress Nia Long has a preference for natural beauty. Which makes perfect sense, since she grew up a vegetarian, that natural based beauty products would be at the core of her routine. It’s finding natural products that are able to help Nia meet her skin’s needs that is the tricky part.  Like many black women, Nia Long deals with  dry skin. And with dry skin being one of the primary causes of premature aging in skin, how does Nia Long combat it? Well, her secret is in a skin care routine that focuses on hydrating and nourishing the skin.

Nia Long uses Chantecaille’s rosewater and sprays it on her face. Rosewater is a great hydrator and it’s super gentle so people who suffer from dry, irritated skin will benefit from rosewater the most. According to Nia, rosewater is her secret to brightening and hydrating her skin.

After a few mists of her rosewater, Nia Long loves to use hydrating oils. So many people shy away from oils in fear that it will make their skin shiny or oily, but for Nia, these oils help to prevent her foundation from looking cakey and unnatural.

And finally, Nia swears by a good facial. Find yourself a good esthetician and treat yo’self to a facial to help deep clean your pores and give your skin a little extra TLC. I mean, if that’s the secret to Nia’s flawless skin, where do we sign up?!
